I wanted to get the Xecuter 3 chip, after opening my Xbox and confirming that I have the V1.0 Version, should I just spend the extra money and get the solderless adapter? Actually before I ask that question, let me as this one first. Is it still necessary for the factory solder in the pin holes to be removed to use the solderless adapter? If it is, then I guess I will just solder the chip to the board myself.
With that being said... how much of a pain in the ass is it to desolder the pin holes??

Here is a few tips for the desoldering.
It helps to put a spot of solder on the braid to transfer heat more fluidly without burning the board or contacts, then apply that to what you want to remove the solder from. Place the dot of solder on top of your other contact and heat it up, it will start to draw up and suck out. Its sort of like tinning the tip of your soldering iron.
Just remember, take your time and don't put too much heat on it for to long and you will be in great shit. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Really??
Now that sounds like a plan! Do you mind me asking which chip you used specifically? Also, even with the solderless adapter, there are still 3 wires that need to be soldered to the board, is that correct?

if you use a solderless adapter you dont have to remove the solder from the lpc. if I were you I would go with a solderless adapter, if you dont know how to solder a xbox motherboard is a bad place to learn. I did that and I ended up havin to pay $100.00 to get my xbox fixed

The only thing with a solderless adapter is that you make sure you dont overtighten. once the adapter is in place you dont need to turn anymore.

When you say that you have an xecuter 3 with a x3 3294, what is the x3 3294? I'm probably asking this a little too early. My plan was to get the chip and new hdd and then ask what my next step should be. I'm a little hazy on the whole flashing and bio part though. Thats where I'm going to need some help. Does anyone either have the time to explain it in steps I can understand, or provide a link that already has this done?
Thanks for the help.

The X3 3294 is the correct bios file for the X3 chip. B.I.O.S.=Basic Input Output System, it is what makes the chip work.

Yeah, that much I do understand. My guess was that was the bios that he had listed there. But the part I don't really understand is how do you get it onto the chip so that it works??

u can use network flash, HDD Flash, or Disc Flash, i would suggest the network flash for quality and ease of use!
Power the xbox on to flash bios, choose "Network Flash" It will give you an IP address, type this IP in your web browser. Now that your connected to the chip, choose the BIOS by clicking "Browse" then "Open" on the BIOS of choice. Rmember all the switches on the control panel need to be to left for your first flash. Do as says and do NOT turn off the xbox untill the Eject LED turns amber, if you do not see the LED turn amber, this means that it should have turned off by itself instead.
