The easiest way would be to use Chimp. That is if you Xbox version is not 1.6.

Using this Chimp program, is it just a matter of burning the current 5Gb image to an iso and then burning that onto the new 160Gb drive?

I also am looking to upgrade my softmodded xbox, with 5Gb HDD to a Maxtor 160Gb drive but I'm currently stuck with how to do it.

Any help would be great. Question

Chimp is an app that is on AID. It is in the app section and it has to be installed as an app. Here is a link to the mannual on how to use it http://aid.xbox-hq.com/manuals_aid30_0g.html#chapter just scoll down its at the bottom. If your Xbox is a V1.6 then dont use Chimp.

Cool, will give that a go. Not sure what exact version my Xbox is, but I'm pretty sure it isn't v1.6.

When you say has to be installed as an app, is that on the Xbox itself?

I'll give that a go, that walkthrough really helps.

I had a problem originally trying to FTP. I was sure all the settings are right, as I'm a network engineer, but the PC would not even ping the Xbox IP. Checked obvious things like IP's, Subnet masks, the cable itself, but still no response.

Any suggestions?

Crossover cable, direct connection to the Xbox. I don't have any switches, routers or hub's available to try.

Thats ok thats all I use. Just to make sure that its not the problem what do you have your Xbox ip setto and what do you have your pc set to? Also do you have the Aid disc and if not I recommend you download it. it has Chimp and about everything else you will need for your Xbox.

IP address of Xbox is set to 192.168.0.3, on a subnet of 255.255.255.0.
PC's IP is set to 192.168.0.5 using same subnet. No DNS or gateways. Everything from a settings point of view appears to be correct, just no joy during FTP or ping.

I don't have the Aid disk and I'm fairly new to all this.

open ie and enter Ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.3 and it should connect to the Xbox. make sure that your Xbox is on and booted to the dashboard. Let me know what happens.

Path specified is unavailable. Check username etc etc.

Just to check, although the AV lead needs to be connected to the Xbox, it doesn't actually have to be linked to a TV though does it?
Should work fine without one?

Yeah it will work without them connected to a TV. Try changing the Xbox ip to 192.168.1.103 and the pc to 192.168.1.102. Also go to your system setting on your dash and make sure that your username and password are Xbox and Xbox.

Yeah, pass and username is xbox, double checked myself.

I'll try changing those settings when I get home tonight, but I'm not sure what difference it will make?

I've tried with a different cable to, just to make sure. But same story.
