Post subject: Problems with my PS2

I used to burn backup games of ps2 and hide the original games in order to avoid scratching from my little brother. I cannot find my ps2 orig games now, so i am dependent on the backups. i used ridata as the dvd-r, burned at 2x-4x. Now the games that used to work perfectly, get this error: "Please insert Playstation or Playstation 2 disc". I think the they are not being read for some reason. As of now, i can get some of the backups to work but they require reseting several times. Can anyone give me suggestions on what might be wrong and how i can go about fixing this problem.. BTW, i think the modchip is a duo brand, Duo 3. Wanted to check the modchip but couldn't find directions on how to properly open the ps2. (I have not modded my ps2, someone else has, back from when i had no modchip knowledge) Thanks...

nope, ive played mine for years and the laser is running strong, but it wouldnt hurt to regrease the tracks and laser guides, use lithium grease, not vasoline as that will break down real fast under useage.
