Post subject: Strange new widescreen problem - x3 Mod

Has anyone come across this before?

I installed an x3 mod(v3294 BIOS) about 6-8 months ago and all has worked fine.
Also installed a WD 250GB HD paritioned with E\:, F:\, & G\:

Last week, suddenly all of my games (originals and HD stored) will no longer display in widescreen. It's the strangest thing. The x3 BIOS has the Hi-Def resolutions enabled and widescreen as does my dash (MS dash only)

Anyone have any thoughts?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you installed anything recently? Not sure what could be causing the problems, maybe swap both settings to normal then restart the xbox and then reset them to widescreen again to see if that will work.

I haven't installed anything recently at all... It just kinda started doing this 1 day. I just tried setting the dash to standard screen and all hi-def options off. After I set that, I went into the BIOS and those settings I changed carried over to it. So I shut it down and came back a few minutes later, restarted, and saw it was running in non-wide. I then reset the BIOS to wide w/hi-def settings. Then went into MS dash and the BIOS settings carried over, so wide and hi-def options were set already. And the dash was running in wide screen mode. I had a little hope here... So I shut it down, then restarted into a game. It booted into a narrow screen... I don't get it... (sigh!)

I also tried booting with the mod disabled, but I got the xbox needs servicing screen.

You think maybe it's some weird sort of hardware problem??
(even though the dash DOES run in widescreen)

K, so lets confirm:

HD component cables to HD tv?

You could always re-flash the bios and reset the settings with x3, as well as reinstall your MSdash files to make sure. Otherwise it may be a bad cable that is not properly grounding in the xbox, can you try another set of HD cables?

Yes, MS HD cable kit to HD TV.

I did already reflash my BIOS and reinstall the dash. I'm going to have to see about getting another cable kit and trying that out. It's just so odd that the dash works in widescreen fine, but the games don't.

Do you happen to know if the x3 BIOS screens should be showing in widescreen? I have it set, but the BIOS will not show widescreen...maybe has something to do with the problem.

Thanks and I'll let you know if that worked.

The 3294 live config shouldn't show in wide as far as I know, but I can't test it.

Did you use teh x3 erase to reset the x3 settings
