well, if you're lookin to go cheap. Your best bet for PS2 is the Swap Magic 3.6. Problem? You have to pop in the swap disc first, then swap in your backup. Now, the swap magic is also fun to pick out, because you need the PnP key. There's 2 different PnP keys, and 12 different PS2's (yes, 12... amazing, huh?) So, you need to identify what version PS2 you have, then get the right PnP key, slide it into the IDE port on the PS2 drive, then hook up the IDE cable, close the PS2 and go from there.

ALL OTHER PS2 CHIPS ARE SOLDER ONLY. No one's really gotten around to making a solderless chip. Why? Because there's 12 different PS2 models (yes, that includes the SlimPS2, which there's only ONE modding option for, and it requires soldering).

http://www.mod-chip.com/index-cart-us.php?go=en/select_ps2_main.htm

There you can get more info on the solderless chips and how much they cost. Best of luck to ya... I know it was a pain finding all my info (I acutally have two PS2 chips, lol)
