Hi,

No not for mac that i know of..
Any other mac users upgraded their softmod hdd using a MAC??

Heres the only main MAC tutorials we have:
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=SWF_Tutorials&func=view&cid=3

Try our normal tutorials area too:
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials.html

If you had a modchip installed you could just install the new larger HDD and then use Auto Installer Deluxe AID (http://www.aid.xbox-hq.com) to FORMAT it and install whatever you wanted.

Sorry i couldnt be of more help

cheers,

hobbs

I just upgraded my HDD last night and it was super easy!
I just used Chimp (installed as an app. from the AID disc).

!NOTICE: It's a good idea to backup your drive just in case. or at least the eeprom.

From the Auto-Installer Deluxe 3 official manual:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hard Drive Cloning using Chimp (by Pirrup)

Hardware Needed:

1. A Y power splitter (or use an external power source for the second HD, like another PC or external disk box etc.)
2. Torx 10, 15, 20 Screwdrivers to open Xbox and replace the HD

Software Needed:

3. Chimp (installed as an app)

Steps:

1. Open the box with the Torx 20 Screwdriver.
2. Use the Y splitter so both Hard Drives would have power when Xbox is on.
(2.1 change the jumper settings on your new HDD to slave*)
3. Loosen the DVD's IDE, but must still be bootable
(it minimize the remove chance of IDE damaging as it is really not designed for hotplugging).
4. Boot Xbox.
5. Launch chimp.
6. Swap the IDE cable from DVD to the new HD.
7. Follow the menu (the first item must be run before others).
(8. Chimp can lock the new HDD using the key from your motherboard*)
(9. change the jumper settings on your new HDD back to master after chimp is done*)
(10. You will probably have to enable the F partition to access all of the new HDD*)

(*Steps 2.1, 8, 9 and 10 in brackets added by Wil87 for this post*)

Xbox 1.6 problems?

If you have a 1.6 box and you can't see the Linux prog (graphics). In that case, you need to telnet into it, the menu will be same.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And it won't matter if you have a PC or Mac because it doesn't need a computer!

Chimp will format the hard drive and make a perfect clone of your drive.
Just make sure you enable the F partition after using chimp so that you can access all the delicious HDD space you have now. Very Happy

Hope that helps!

Ok thats no problem using an apple first did you get fetch or captian as your FTP client. If you new pick up fetch its easy and right to go (I also made a writeup for FTP using this) Now once you have FTP access you just need to go to your dash and bam hit backup then tranfer the whole C and E drives over to you desktop 1st. along with the back up...hint its there twice because you need it bad. then do what the other guy said using AID chimp then you can adj your IP setting again off of your dash and FTP the C drive and E drive to the new formated HDD Very Happy

Dreen, You don't need FTP your stuff back over because Chimp copies everything over for you. That's what Chimp is for, cloning hard drives. no FTP required (though you should backup your HDD before doing anything big to you Xbox). Chimp can even lock the HDD with the key from the motherboard.

Chimp does the transferring.
You sort of hotswap the DVD drive for the new HDD so Chimp is transferring directly from the old HDD to the new HDD.
Thats why it says:

Quote:

2. Use the Y splitter so both Hard Drives would have power when Xbox is on.
(2.1 change the jumper settings on your new HDD to slave*)
3. Loosen the DVD's IDE, but must still be bootable

4. Boot Xbox.
5. Launch chimp.
6. Swap the IDE cable from DVD to the new HD.

I just used these instructions last night and I didn't have to FTP anything back over.
