I was using the 007 Evox installer on my version 1.6 XBOX and ended up with an unlocked hard drive and no mod. When I attempt to boot my xbox i get error 5 (which I understand means that the retail bios wolln't boot from an unlocked BIOS). Is there anyway that I can remedy this? Would a hard drive hot swap possibly help?
Thanks for any help.

hi zubanhunter,

Unfortunately we dont have many members here who have ever tried a SOFT MOD let alone got one working..

We suggest our members install a modchip (any modchip).. Then we can really help you..

Hopefully a SOFT MOD experienced user will reply..

cheers

Hi,

Since you are running a softmod you will need to have a eeprom backup so you can lock your hdd with the correct details on a modchipped machine.

Or.. You could just install a modchip which will let you boot the AUto Installer Deluxe (http://www.aideluxe.com) so you can use Config Magic to lock your hdd..

Also, here are some tutorials which may help you get your retail xbox hdd back to a working state.. enjoy the site and sorry i couldnt be of more help.. Im a modchip guy and have only ever done 2 softmods myself.
