Ubisoft's sophisticated squad-based series moves from military technology's cutting edge to its bleeding edge in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Set in the not-so-distant future of 2013, players lead a Special Forces unit to quell an insurgency lurking within the urban environment of Mexico City. The game introduces a new mechanic called the Cross-Com, a communications device integrated into a soldier's monocle that allows players to view images of enemy positions, target locations, and other information gathered by recon drones flying overhead.
The Xbox version of Advanced Warfighter was developed by a different team than the Xbox 360 game, resulting in a few key differences, like an exclusive first-person perspective with a view of the character's equipped weapon. Other changes include one AI-controlled Ghost on the team instead of three, an ability to sprint across areas, and redesigned levels. The single-player campaign otherwise spans 12 missions that involve clearing zones, rescuing dignitaries, creating distractions, capturing buildings, and more. Xbox Live support is included with 12 original maps and an assortment of game modes, custom characters, and options available to enhance the action. |
