While the idea of modding a console insn't anything new, Taiwan based FreindTech is hoping to make the process more user friendly by doing the job for you. Known more for their PC upgrade kits, FriendTech is launching two modified Xboxes. The DreamX-1480 and DreamX-733.

The flagship machine will be the 1480 model and boast a 1.4Ghz Pentium processor, 128 MB RAM and a 120GB HDD. FriendTech is banking on an increase interest in home media and gaming. Unlike the Sony's PSX, with Xboxes ethernet connection, users can FTP ton's of media content right to the Xbox from their PC.

The DreamX-1480 is priced at an admittedly steep $499.00. A new feature unheard of till now is called a "turbo switch". This is supposed to boost performance while in mid gameplay. XBN magazine got their little grubbs on the 1480 and tested it out with Halo and NFS Underground, but other than quicker load times noticed no difference in gameplay performance. With no XBOX Live support, the market in my opinion is questionable. However, the fact that modded machines are now cropping up in this manner is quite surprising.
