The latest offering from publisher Riot Games has undoubtedly been a huge success for its beta period - hundreds of thousands of viewers are checking the game out of Twitch every day and active users are rising every day as more players gain access to the beta. With the huge success and rapid growth, is it possible that the game could move to other platforms?

Could Valorant See Cross Platform Release?

The publishers previous title in League of Legends has been very much tied to the PC platform, however due to the nature of the game it was unlikely that it would ever see movement - a mobile variant had been developed as the mobile market continues to grow, puzzle games and a list of non gamstop casinos lead the growth but as we’ve seen through other studios popular PC games have also found their way with titles such as Fortnite and PUBG finding a very popular growth on the market - this leads to the thought that although the publishers previous title was unable to move outside of the PC sector for most of its current life span, as a shooter Valorant may be afforded some different opportunities to move a little differently as the game mechanics are less strict that just keyboard and mouse as control.

The game is still in beta however and although the expected release date was thought to be somewhere around the summer, this has already been confirmed to be pushed back somewhat due to the spread of the coronavirus and lockdown efforts preventing some efforts needed to get the game rolled out - the game will release for free, however, as much like League of Legends the game will rely on a cosmetics shop - with an already growing interest in an esports scene and the publishers history with having top notch production value there is certainly a lot of interest - with this of course comes the question of whether or not the game will find an eventual move over to other platforms following the success of previously mentioned titles such as Fortnite - if the esports scene continues to grow and popularity remains there may be calls from many to have the game move across to these other platforms, and although the publisher has no history or experience in porting games on to more traditional consoles, it isn’t unheard of that it is a possibility.

The initial and continued focus however, will of course be on the opening platform and since the requirements for the game are quite easy, access through low powered laptops and computers are still an option for those looking to give the game a go - for everyone else, unfortunately for now the best possibility is to watch one of the many streams available online and potentially wait for news following the full release - the initial success is looking great, and when one market performs well typically there are nods toward expanding that outwards and as such time will tell what can be expected.
