News.com and washingtonpost.com posted an article about Microsoft's profits and losses this last (financial) quarter (ended Sept. 30). The only interesting part for here is that the home and entertainment unit (that includes the Xbox video game machine) saw its loss widen to $273 million from $245 million a year ago. But that's not anything to really worry about for Microsoft, they had a total operating profit of $3.15 billion and ended the quarter with $51.62 billion in cash and short-term investments, up from $49.05 billion as of June 30.
