With so many SVN builds flooding the waters and more and more bugs surfacing due to the rate of updating it looks like XBMC has found it time to put a hold on upgrades and put the focus on fine tuning and tweaking for the next stable build known as Babylon.

Reporting On xbmc.org jmarshall posts: Over the weekend, the VDPAU branch was merged into the main trunk, signaling the time for another feature freeze to give devs and users a chance to focus on fixing bugs ready for the next major stable release, 9.04.

As predicted by many, the codename for this next release is Babylon. New in 9.04 is the VDPAU code (hardware decoding of h264 and VC1 on recent nvidia GPUs on Linux) worked on by motd2k, and the path cleanup work (XBMC will no longer steal all those drive letters on Windows), in addition to all the usual improvements that you’ve come accustomed to expecting.

We’ll need help to get things nice and stable for release. This means taking time to test things thoroughly, helping developers reproduce problems, identifying any holes in the current documentation and so on.

Let the bug-bashing begin!

Being a long time user and hardcore fan of anything XBMC i cant wait till this build hits, its sure to be top shelf work and the only thing left is for some groups like Team Black Bolt to get there skin out there so we have some new eye candy for this build.

Really Black Bolt, Ellipsis skin might be built to look like the PS3 but do we really need to wait for it as long as we had to wait for KillZone 2 or Home?
