Xbox sales have leapt upwards, corresponding with the launch of the Xbox Live online gaming service.

Figures released by GfK Marketing Services Australia revealed that 32 percent of the 'next generation' console market was taken by Xbox during September. Sales of the Microsoft console grew by 12 percent in the July 1-September 30 period, while sales of Sony's Playstation 2 fell by eight percent and sales of Ninendo's Gamecube dropped by 15 percent, according to GfK.
