Gordon Brown has announced his government’s intention to take a strong line against violent games amidst concerns voiced by parents over the effects that they have on children.
The Prime Minister has promised to review rules concerning the advertising and sale of violent games to children and said that new legislation could be drafted to limit youngsters’ exposure to screen violence, reports the Daily Mirror.

"Parents are concerned about whether children are too exposed to harmful violence and sexual imagery in games and on the internet," said Brown, "so as we launch the court consultation on our children's plan we will be looking at all the evidence on the effects of this material, whether we need new rules for the advertising and sale of these products to children and young people."

Proposals for new regulations could be drawn up later this week when the Prime Minister puts the plans to a "Citizens' Jury".

"It will look at how we can empower people to work with police to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour," said Brown.
