Xbox 360 60% onlineMerely 10% of Xbox users took their original Xbox online. That was a long time ago. Last September, Microsoft predicted that half of Xbox 360 users would take the online plunge. How wrong he was.
Microsoft actually overshot their prediction, and now 60% have used Live. And contrary to our loved ones assertions, that percentage is not solely comprised of Today staff.
"We were like, 'Well, it's the hardcore gamers, this is going to drop off over time,'" Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg told Gamespot. "A lot of people gave us this feedback. And what we've actually seen is it went from 50 to 55, and now it's at 60. And so we're not just sustaining it, we're growing that."
Naturally, all must good things must eventually come to an end. At some point, the numbers will have to trickle down.
"Logic says it will come down at some point," Greenberg admitted, "but the fact that it's continuing to grow and we have the majority of our users connected online has really changed the gaming experience this generation."
