The guys behind the Xbox8146 Adapter informed us they now released a modified firmware for the LG GDR-8164 PC drive that will allow the drive to read original Xbox discs.
This 'Xbox8146 Adapter' adds a connector to the LG-8164 PC DVD-drive (requires some easy soldering: see installation diagrams), so you can connect the special Xbox 'yellow' power/eject DVD-cable to the drive. This allows you to use this cheap (~15-25usd) PC drive, that easily reads any cd/dvd media, as a full replacement drive for your Xbox1. While you could boot any Xbox code from CD-R(W) and DVD+-R(W) (on a modded Xbox1 of course) with this drive it couldn't read/load original Xbox discs.
That's why they now released a modified firmware for this LG GDR-8164 drive that will allow you to boot original Xbox discs on your modded Xbox and it'll even be able to read the content of original Xbox 360 discs (it can't be used to extract SS (yet) though):

Last time we introduced our product, the 8164 adapter. Because it has been more and more difficult to find replacement drives for your broken or bad reading drive, we developed a adapter to offer a clean and easy solution for everyone.
The adapter makes a LG-8164 PC drive function in a Xbox(1).

The only disadvantage of this product was: it couldn't read originals. Thanks to MrPresident this problem is now solved with the new xbox8164flasher.rar firmware.
You can even use this firmware to extract Xbox 360 games.
After installation it will play all media CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-R/DVD+R and originals!
Flashing the drive is very easy, we even included a windows GUI flasher. Installation instructions are in the readme.txt

We continue coding to offer complete Xbox1 drive emulation for non-modded Xbox's and SS extraction for Xbox 360 games.
