Activision Ready for PS3 and Revolution

Activision to provide possible launch titles for these next-generation game consoles.

February 7th, 2006 (8:52pm) - Activision held its fiscal 2006 conference call this morning and at the event Activision executives confirmed that the publisher will have multiple games on shelves for both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Revolution.

In regards to the Revolution, Activision has stated that they are in development with at least one game for Nintendo’s Revolution and that the game will be available during the first four months of the console’s availability on retail shelves. This could very well mean that the game will be a launch title. Unfortunately, not much is known about the game itself. It is widely believed that the game will be an original property for the console that will make use of the console’s innovative features, due to the fact that Activision had readied a development team for Nintendo’s next generation console in October 2005.

Now, as for Sony’s next generation game machine, Activision has confirmed the development of three games for the console that will be release in the fiscal 2007 year (April 2006 - March 2007). Once again, Activision has been tight lipped regarding which games they could be and their scheduled release dates.

With another sequel to the Tony Hawk series in development for a release this Fall, it is possible that it may be one of Activision’s first PS3 games. Of course, it is possible that any one of these games can be based on one of Activision’s many popular franchises, which include the X-Men, Spider-Man, and Call of Duty.
