Blizzard announced earlier this week that it will be consolidating its PC development team in its home office in Irvine, Calif.

"We're looking forward to having our PC development teams together in Irvine," stated Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "In addition to improving our efficiency as a company, the relocation also represents an opportunity for all of our teams to have regular, direct input on each other's projects."

Blizzard's San Francisco office has closed its doors and the majority of the approximately 50 employees have received relocation packages to move to the Irvine office to work on a new project.

"The employees will be working on an unannounced project," said a Blizzard spokesperson. "I can't tell you what it is."

The Blizzard representative also said that the employees from up north will be working on different projects to make the best use of their talents. "Different people from different teams will be coming in to work on this unannounced project," continued the spokesperson.

Blizzard doesn't believe that the shuffling of employees will impact any current projects. When asked when we can expect Blizzard to announce what this unannounced project is, the spokesperson said that it is yet to be determined.

If it had to be guessed...Joystiq.com say it would be Diablo 3.
