BCossette Writes:

In his latest Game Over column, CNN/Money columnist Chris Morris reveals the date the next Xbox will be unveiled to the world and confirms which of the rumored names Microsoft has picked for the Xbox successor:

Three days before it officially begins, the company will finally take the wraps off of its next generation Xbox (which will almost certainly be named Xbox 360).

The editor also gives his insight on the hard drive and backwards compatibility. According to Morris, “a hard drive is still a possibility and Microsoft is working hard to make the machine backward compatible with current Xbox games, though that hasn't been easy due to a change in hardware vendors”.

Finally there’s some additional info that the Xbox community knew already such as HDTV resolution being mandatory for every game as well as some basic online functionality.

The article also give a sneak peek to Sony and Nintendo plans for the expo as well as other games that will be first showed at E3 including 3D Realms’ Prey, Tomb Raider: Legend, the next Unreal Tournament and id Software’s Quake 4.

Without a doubt, the 2005 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo will be one of the most important events in the videogame history. Well, that will be after the 2006 edition has Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo fighting for the next generation crown.
