The Bug Report: 2005-Feb-11

February 11, 2005 - Here's a list of the nastiest game-stopping glitches and offer recommendations on how to avoid them. While not everyone is destined to experience the same "bugs", we know how frustrating they can be for the gamers who do face them. Here're some recently reported glitches/bugs to look out for:

Champions: Return to Arms

The Bug: Items that add health and mana bonuses do not work in single player/multiplayer. Snowblind has confirmed this. While you can still play the game the weapons that have these bonuses are useless.

The Bug: The wizard's weapon abilities have a glitch that can remove enchantments. For example: if you have a staff with a cold gem in it, and you use the spell 'cold weapons' on characters with other enchantments, When the spell wears off they will lose their original enchantment.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords (PC)

The Bug: So far the game has been running wonderfully, until the Peragus fuel depot, that is. I am currently using the droid to attempt to open the hangar and bring my Jedi to the Ebon Hawk. The droid opened the fuel depot door using the main hangar's console, killed some mining droids and entered a lift to what I'm assuming is the second floor of the fuel depot near the hangar. When the droid exits the lift, however, everything goes haywire. I can get the droid perhaps halfway up the hall and then it stops. I hear noise as if the droid is progressing but it isn't moving. Instead it looks around. I have made it to a door with a blue force field twice (upper left of hallway) and even then couldn't back away from the door to continue down the hallway (door won't open yet...plot issue not gaming glitch). I have not been able to replicate getting to the door in my last five tries, though.

I have updated all my video drivers (I use a Radeon 8500), turned off shadows, grass, anti-aliasing and tweaked till my fingers hurt. I noticed someone else had this problem and his/her video card was a Radeon 9800 so that throws out the issue of my video card being too low. Besides, everything has been fine till this level.

I either need a patch or a saved game for no amount of messing with mouse, keyboard, or graphics has gotten this droid to move. I truly love KOTOR (had no problems with KOTOR I) and want to progress. HELP!

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction (PS2, Xbox)

The Bug: Missing Weapon Help E-mail. Normally, upon picking up and selecting a weapon for the first time, a help e-mail is sent to the PDA. However, dying and continuing will delete that help e-mail. Subsequently, picking up the same weapon will not generate the help e-mail ever again.

The Fix: Opt not to quit the game and reload the game. Optionally, pick up "new" weapons outside of contract/ace mission situations. Lastly, missing these help files do not severely detract from the game.

Logitech Wireless Controller (Xbox)

The Bug: Regarding the recent Bug Reports on the Logitech Wireless Controllers, I have some information. I had a similar problem starting with Fable. The problem got worse and was so bad that when I would play Halo it would automatically fire all the time without having to physically press the right trigger.

The Fix: I called Logitech's Customer service for the USA and told them of the problem. After them asking me a few questions and gathering some information they sent me a new controller at no extra charge.

NFL Street 2 (PS2)

The Bug: To do this you have to restart Gauntlet and Challenge if you have started it already. Create a team in Challenge, make their team type custom.

Create a player (I'll call him p1) with 20 D-moves, 18- speed, 16 or 17 tackling, and pretty tall height (plus some weight). Also make a player with 1 or 2 tackling, with pretty good coverage and speed.

Go to "Eagle Heights, Sportsplex" on the map. Go to the bottom (coming through). Play it and always control "p1" and get one or two sacks each drive (even zero, if you can't get it), just don't get gold. It will always say "Retry" at the end of the drive. Do this for a while to get tons of development points to make your team great.

Now use them in Gauntlet, and you should handle the Gauntlet pretty easily. Now you still have 145 days left of training camp to further strengthen your team. Peace.

The Punisher (Xbox, PS2)

The Bug: Sometimes when you are using a character as a human shield and walking up stairs, the character will disappear. This leaves The Punisher with his arm out in a very unthreatening position.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals II (PS2)

The Bug: Hostage Glitch in Mixer: When playing mixer, there is a train by the tunnels with an opening. If you climb it, the hostages won't follow you.

The Fix: There is a way to make them climb into the train. Take control of all three hostages, climb into the train. Drop a grenade just a bit behind a hostage and the hostages will climb into the train with you. The 1st time I tried it, I killed 1 hostage.Source: IGN
