Microsoft declares Halo Killer: Halo 2

Just how hot is Halo 2? Microsoft today announced that the game has sold more than five million copies since its November 9 launch.
To provide some perspective, the original Halo has sold about five million copies in the three years since its launch in November 2001. Not that we're saying the original game is lacking, only that the sequel is making much bigger retail waves.
As expected, Halo 2 has also generated big activity on Xbox Live. Microsoft recorded 28 million hours of Halo 2 time on the service so far, more online time than any other game has ac*****ulated during the online service's two years.
Will Master Chief sell Xbox hardware? Specific numbers aren't in yet, but Microsoft reports videogame console sales in general increased 50 percent in the last week compared to Thanksgiving week last year. There's no doubt that this is a great year for gaming for various reasons, and Halo 2 is chief among them.
