Hi everyone.
I have a question, I hope one of you will at least throw me some suggestions.
I have actually 2 routers I want to find open firmware (linux) for. The main one is a Belkin Pre-N, they aren't going to release updates and i feel its going to be the bastard child of the router family.
I am aware of the DD-WRT project and have found people have found success after modifying (thru HEX) the first few bytes so it is recognized by the firmware update. They say it doesn't have a logout or reboot option. Has anyone tried this firmware trick. How does it run. Got Links?
I have also read about Sveasoft creating custom firmwares for a yearly subscription for download. I didn't see a supported router page that listed the Pre-N, however the main page specifies there will be Belkin Firmware.
The other router I have I would like to try something with is a D Link DI-624 (non +) . I see something about the FlashROM being too small for WRT packages. D Link supposedly compresses with ARJ and it makes it small enough to fit on half the rom, where the other half is for recovery.
Anyone got any horror stories, success, info queries, learned tid bits, absolutely anything to help would be awesome.
Thanks guys,
