Controlling the Xbox One by voice is nothing new. Since her launch in 2013, she has been using language assistant Cortana. An upcoming update is to remove the voice control from Microsoft but from the console. With the software update released in July 2019, the Xbox has opened in return for Amazon Alexa, allowing the console to continue to be controlled by voice. COMPUTER BILD explains what you need for the device and what you have to look out for.
Xbox and Alexa: These devices need you!
For your Xbox console to understand the voice assistant, you need an echo device, such as the Amazon Echo Dot. To set up, you should have a smartphone with the Amazon Alexa app (for iOS and Android ) installed. Set Xbox One
First, make sure that the update with the version number 10.0.18362.5047 is installed on the console. Press the Xbox button on your controller and open the console settings using the gear icon at the top. Under the menu item System and console info you can determine if the update is already installed. Press the B key to return to the settings and select the item Kinect & Devices. Now go to Digital Assistants and tick the Enable Digital Assistant check box. Exit the settings and return to the start page.
Link Amazon Alexa to Xbox
You now pick up your smartphone and start the Alexa app. Tap the three bars on the top left of the screen and select Skills and Games . Then use the magnifying glass to find the Xbox skill. When you have found the skill, tap it and press Activate for use . This opens a login window in which you enter the account details of your Xbox account. Confirm the access permissions with Yes . If the account is linked successfully, a confirmation window appears. Close the window with the small arrow at the top left of the screen. Now the app performs an automatic search, which takes about 20 seconds. Then tap Devices in the Alexa app. The app should display the console in the upper device bar with a small house icon. When you tap the button, the device settings open and you give the Xbox a new name that will allow you to call the device in the future.
If you would like to add the console to a new group, such as the living room , tap the plus sign in the top right corner of the app on the device dashboard. Press Add Group and select the appropriate room. Press Next to see all the devices that are already paired with Alexa. Place a check mark next to the desired echo box and the Xbox console, and then tap Save.
