Arena Football needs improvement. EA Sports (who has the market cornered in sports games) came up short this game. I dont know if EA Sports was trying to make the controls different from NCAA and MADDEN to distinguish it as its own game but it was a mistake.
I come from a state with an Arena Football team, and having a watched a few games I can tell you that Arena Football can stand on its own and does not need help standing out from regular football.
For those who may not know the difference between Arena Football and NFL Football, it''s simple:
1. 50 yards instead of 100 yards. 2. There is a 4 ft wall the surrounds the field. Walls are in. So anything caught off the walls is in, and you can tackle players in to the wall as well (like hockey). 3. There is no punting. If the kicker can not make a field goal, it is still a live ball. There is a net that blocks the ball from going out of bounds and the opposing team catches the ball (off the net) and tries to run with it. 4. The wide receiver stands back about 10 to 15 ft behind the line and when the play is about to start, the QB tris to time hiking it just right.
Because of the above mentioned reason, Arena Football is a high scoring action packed sport. I am hopefull that EA Sports will slow the production of the next Arena Football game down, enough to make it stand out as it should.
