I combined the AID 2.0 with AID 2.02 and created a new ISO and the file is around 715MB. I used update tool in the Tools folder. I see that it was posted that it should be 625. Is this a problem? It does mean that i can't fit it on a CD, have to wait for my DVD burner to arrive.

If you combine 2.0 with the 2.02 update WITHOUT a dummy file, it will be small enough to fit onto a CD.

You might have to look into some of our tutorials on hotswapping or replacing the hdd. Sorry but I only write the software on this, I don't have all the answers to all the problems if something goes wrong or someone does something wrong.

I've got the drive in CS mode, hooked up where the original one was, I have the AID 2.0 DVD in the drive, using known good media ('cause I flashed the BIOS with it), and it won't boot. The screen gets all screwy. If I turn the modchip OFF (XEcuter 2.6), I get told it needs service, presumably because the hard drive is blank? Here's my question - if the drive is blank, how does it locad a dashboard? Or is it supposed to be booting from the DVD and not doing it? This has driven me nuts from Day 1 when I realized i had to DEsolder the damn v1.0 motherboard. My progress has been in fits and starts. Anyone who can tell me how to get this new drive working will be my friggin' hero for the month of July, I swear! HELP!

okay, I will try this next chance I get; thanks! I was afraid that maybe I had missed a step, or, even worse, missed a step with the Cromwell BIOS that I now couldn't do. hopefully 2.02 will work.
incidentally, is there a way to use a PC to prep an xbox HD?
thanks again.

There is, a program called XboxHDM will do it, unforunately I haven't used it before though. However, tpye that into the search area on the tutorials page and it should come up with something.

Alright, I installed the Softmod Installer Deluxe 2.0 to my xbox and later chose to download the AID 2.0 After 10 hours of long, lag causiong downloading, it finally finished. So I went throiught the directions, used dvd decrypter to save it to my CD-R but when i put it in nothing happens and when i go to dvd 2 xbox, it says that there isn't a disk even in it! Why is that happening? Thanks.

CD-R is probably your problem, use CD-RW or DVD-R.
