Hi guys,
I've just been wondering what our new members were looking for when they stumbled upon xbox-hq.com? Existing members feel free to let us know how you found us too and what you were looking for if you can remember.
to be honest, at first, this place scared the pants off me...
AT THE TIME (now long gone) i mistook it for another "psxhaven" (a hardarse shop)
what drew (PULLED) me here was SPPV!
in some way i was able to make do with what i had!
i was frightened of here for no real reason, when SPPV explained more about what "here" is, i soon lost any unfounded paranoid thoughts and got on with it!
........
wasn't so much i was looking for anything but SPPV recommended here to me! (a bit more than recommend actually, a good thing) and in that respect, it's all i needed! the community is what does it for me here...
(the previews ROCK but that's NOT why i'm here, i owe something to this community and if i can offer some assistance and get it resolved, then it's a 1UP in my books)
glad i'm here, i still have a use...

Was looking for softmod files. ANY softmod files. Google led me all over. Usually to tutorials videos that didn't provide the exploit files or to written tuts who put the exploit files on sites that removed them.
Eventually saw a thread on TIZ where SPPV was being real helpful with a neophyte and figured SPPV might be kind enough to help me. Learned on TIZ chat he quit TIZ and was here.
Then I found him and found what I was looking for plus much more!
Thanks for what you do Hobbs!

sppv told me to come here so you can blame him, for, me.
like amiga i wasnt immediately drawn in, at first glance, i thought "wow this site hasnt been updated in years", because of the many tabs at the top, i couldnt work out the downloads quick enough (actually still havent downloaded anything i dont think) the forums had posts from 2006, and the tabs just made my focus completely blurry. sorry for being totally honest.
too much knowledge to just turn away from, more than likely any questions i have are answered in these forums somewhere. the people are friendly and with sppv still developing apps i think he will actually draw a lot of numbers back for a while. im always referring to xbox-hq at tiz.

What can I say, Im not a fan of what that site has become. In the early days it was a great site, but over time it became more like a police stte than a community. When people get in crp for pointing people to the developer of an app?emu/game/mod for help (which incidentaly they are trying to sell instead of making it 100% free as intended) it gets my blood boiling. After making my views known and even getting backstabbed for offering help to people (offering free hosting on my mediafire account to people who say they are no longer gonna release on tiz) then they use it to blackmail their way into a staff position. Or tell users here to violate the license of my work and upload it to tiz while knocking our staff and developers I say its time to cut ties.
Such things will never be tolerated here, this IS A COMMUNITY. And as Hobbs knows while we may never see the numbers we had in our heyday we are always drawing new members, who want it from the source, not guesswork and maybe do this, maybe do that, well gee sorry I bricked your XBOX but hey not my fault cause I know jack about that stuff I only modded a PSP, who woulda thunk flashing a TSOP with a PS1 BIOS would brick it LMAO

Well at least the people I talked to on TiZ chat we nice enough to point me your way.
But yeah, people on there are crabby in general.
They remind of what XS used to be around 2004 when they were mean to neophytes and said "read the forums before posting!"
And yes SPPV, I know they're a lot nicer on XS nowadays.
There's something about geeks being all righteous when they feel like they know something more than another person and becoming all snotty.
Never understood that.

only 6 members in the last 1/2 hour, but going by the stats at the top 500 unique ip numbers in what 30 minutes is not dead by any means, it means those people need to login and ask questions, or say thanks, or just input.
thats a lot of eyes to keep the ball rolling.

I found this site a long time ago, so my memory is a bit fuzzy. I originally found the site while researching ways to mod my Xbox. I spent about two weeks Googling every question I could think of before I went ahead and softmodded my first Xbox (I was really worried about messing something up). During this information binge, I stumbled across Xbox-Hq forum posts and tutorials from time to time, but most of the information I found was on Xboxscene or Se7en forums (?).
So, I went ahead and softmodded my 1.6. Everything went over really well, but I decided I wanted to put a mod chip in it instead. So I threw a HyperX chip in it because it was solderless (I wish I wouldn't have done that), and had some issues flashing it. Since I had seen Xboxscene pop up a lot during my research, I went back there and made an account so that I could ask some questions.
I can't remember why, but I got banned shortly after registering for their forums. They were extremely rude and really didn't help me out too much before I got banned, so I didn't care much to go back there once my ban was lifted.
At that point, I started thinking about other sites that I had seen during my research. Xbox-Hq was the first one that came to mind, so I hopped on over here and registered. The rest is history. _________________
