i will be needing assistance installing a mod chip but i dont want to have to solder it into my xbox...which is the best solderless mod chip out there?....or any one that will work...also i need to upgrade my hard drive...don't have a clue how to do either...hopefully i can get away without soldering anything...or can i buy a cheap xbox that's already modded?..Finally would i need to install any programs after the chip and hard drive has been installed?

There are plenty of solderless chips out there. Just check out some of our sponsors here on this site by clicking on their banners.
Finding a cheap premodded box is gonna be tough. You will always spend over 300.00 if you are adding a HD. I have found many modded machines with stock HD's for only 240.00, adding HD is simple. Please check out our tutorial section as you will find a plethora of info on how to do HD installs. HD's and DVD drives are the easiest installs around.
You will need a few things once you have your new HD and Modchip installed. It just depends on what you want to do with your machine. If you want to back up games, you will need software that allows you to do that. You will also need a new bios. The modchip is flashed and the bios will reside on it and give your box the ability to run certain tasks. Without the software and bios, you will not be able to back up games.
You do not have to solder for HD install. All you need to do is remove screws and disconnect.
To get the programs you need, become a VIP member and you will have full download access to all you need.

Halo 2 isn't even out yet, so I doubt there is a dl for it. Even if there were, you should pay for it. Bungie (and other Devs, like UbiSoft) should be compensated for all their hard work.
You should check out the auto installers from XBOX-HQ and SlaYer. I will be using SlaYer's auto installer and an Xecuter 2.3 Lite+. The installer will automatically format a new HD, flash the bios and add important/useful apps. _________________ XBOX v1.1 - Philips DVD

While we're on the subject, could someone recommend a decent solderless modchip for the Xbox 2, preferably one that will let me play Halo 3?
