When I store something, I choose the 'f' partition but I also notice that it is storing info in the 'd' (data) section. I bought it set up so I don't know what's what. Anyway, is it possible to have gigs left on the 'f' and nothing for 'd'? Can I repartion on the fly? Is there a defrag pgm?
TIA

D is your DVD Drive...

Not sure what you mean, you cant store anything on your "D:/" partition

I'm not intentionally storing data on the d section. I select to store info to the f partition ( e and f are my only choices). Most of the info does go to the f partition but the software is informing me that some info is going to places where I did not assign it to go. I know it's reporting via the letter 'd ' and the word 'data' or 'data *'. The letter 'd' included with 'data *' suggested a partition to me. If not, ok. That's why I initially used 'd section'.

My real concern is something akin to:
If I select info to be stored on 'f' but the machine stores packets of information in 'd*' thing , what happens to that info that was saved in the d 'thing' once I've made the choice to eliminate info previously selected to be saved in 'f'. Is it automatically erased also?

Is there a pgm to defrag the physical drive?
If there is not one, does that imply it is unnecessary?

TIA

its impossible that its storing anything on D: so not sure exacly whats happening or where its actually going. maybe check on f: and make sure the entire file is there, if it is, i wouldn't worry about it. and no there's no defrag app. but that doesn't mean it couldn't benifit from an occasional wipe/format and start over

Thanks for the input.
Thanks modgod. Forgot to add that last time.

I got inside and looked around. maybe the d stood for (sub)directory (displays DIIR) and data meant the data file (displays [DIIR data]). Sounds good to me from the way it looks. All the associated tags are within the selected xbe name.
