So I opened up my Xbox for the first time last night to install a Xecuter 2.3b Pro. I desoldered the LPC Ports, used the pin header installation, soldered what I thought was the d0 port correctly, connected it all back up, as I'm thinking to myself, "Whats all the fuss this wasn't so bad" . Then when I turn on my XBox the lovely MSXBOX dashboard came on like everytime before. Tonight I'm going to open it back up and recheck my pin header soldering, but I assume that I need to do a better job of soldering the d0. I've checked a lot of sites and found a bunch of different techniques for doing this. On top of the board, on the bottom of the board, taping the connection down, not taping the connection down, etc... Does anyone have any recommendaitons on how to best solder the d0, and/or any other trouble shooing I can perform. _________________ XBox V1.0

Soldering on the top of the board is probably what most prefer. You can try tinning the wire prior to inserting it into the DO hole. Then touch the wire that has been tinned with solder to wet it, then insert into DO. Then just bend the wire back a little bit so you can fill hole with a little more solder.
Make sure only to touch the tip of the wire and not the motherboard so you don't do any damage to the board.
If all goes well, the soldered tip of the wire should create a joint.
check out a video that I uploaded. This video came with a purchased copy of the xbox repair guide written by Kris at www.xboxrepairguide.com
I'll leave it up there for a day or so prior to taking it down.
As you can see, he didn't even touch any solder to the wire. He tinned it with solder prior and then just touched the wire.
This was a 1.2 version xbox with a Xenium chip.
I hope that helps. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Thanks guys.....I got it working last night.... I used the alternate d0 point on the back of the board.... tinned the wire..... prepped the area with elec tape... then soldered it on ... and put a tiny piece of elec tape on to hold it in place..... seems to be working fine.....now i just gotta try reburning my x2 bios... b/c my 1st attempt with a DVD didn't run last night...... but hopefully the hard part is over for now
