Just thought I'd let everyone in on a secret. When I installed my xenium chip with the pinheader install. I decided to solder each pin seperately, so I took them all out of the little box thing it comes in. I actually broke about 3 of them (man was I angry). But then I went to the hobby store and bought some long thin poles. And they were actually the same thickness to fit in the chip. So I used a few of those, just cut them to size. Just thought I'd let you guys know in case you break a few pins, you don't have to go buy another chip. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

To make sure nobody ever has to go through this problem..
Keep the pins intact. There is really no advantage to soldering one at a time..god that had to be arduous!! How did you get each individual pin to stay straight?? How did you get them all at the right depth? When they are intact in the header they are straight and easy to just tape to the board. Then you flip it over and bam X 11.... you're done. Plust they are all sunk at the same depth making a very uniform install.
I am just beside myself trying to figure out why you took each pin out.. I have heard a lot of different ideas and install methods so I never discount anything, but this time I just cannot think of any tactical advantage in doing that. Maybe you can clear it up for me and let me know why that is easier or what advantage you have over soldering individual pins into a LPC..
later man

Well, I had the xbox with the solder inside the lpc ports already by microsoft. I tried using the desolder braid, but it was very hard to get all the solder up from inside the hole. So I decided to just use the solder that was already in there to set the pins in place. I used a backing board and a raise for the mobo so that all pins would be in at same depth. I than cut the pins to the same height and voila. I also do not reccomend the method, but I didn't feel like going out and buying the vacume thing. But on hindsight, it probably would of saved a lot of time as I sat their soldering for hours (literally hours) soldering each pin in place and straight up.
But hey, it was my first modchip install and everything works perfectly. So although it took a little extra time (well, a lot of extra time), I am happy that everything worked out in the end. But if I were to do it again, I definitely would not do it this way. My point on this thread was to say that if you do happen to break a pin by accident, don't worry becuase you can replace it relatively easy. _________________ XBOX- V1.0
