Hi i need some help. I've installed a xecuter 2.3b lite+ chip and downloaded the xbox-hq auto installer and installed this on to the hdd every thing is fine with that it all works with the chip on, but turn the chip off and all i get is the service screen and either an error code of 13 or 16.
My hdd is locked to the motherboard so it can't be that or could it? I've also tried another chip and the same still happens. please help.
Thanks.

Error code 13 could mean that something with the MS Dashboad is missing or corrupt/bad key. Try downloading/installing one of the four known MS Dashboards and see if that helps. It could also be due to locking issue, but you said that it's locked.
Error code 16 relates to other files related to the dashboard. (Dashboard specific). The solution would be to Renew your dashboard (the dashboard it wanted to start).
Hope this helps...I'll keep looking for similar issues and fixes. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

What are the names of your dashboards? I had a similar problem a while back... can't remember the exact code, but it turned out that I had renamed a dash incorrectly. I used Slayers CD to boot up with, FTPed into the drive, renamed the dash.... works perfectly now.
As a matter of fact, I just finally got around to fixing it this past weekend. I figured I had really screwed up the HDD (it was the original). I suddenly decided to hook up the original HDD and throw in Slayers CD just to see what would happen. It booted from CD, I FTPed into the xbox, found out the dash was named "xdash.xbe". I renamed it "xboxdash.xbe" and it worked fine.
Maybe a similar problem has happened to you?

I'm having the same problem. I just started modding my xbox last week. I have the same chip, and just put EvoX on my hardrive. I have my EvoX dash as the xboxdash.xbe, and changed the original to msxboxdash.xbe. I'm running the X2 4981 bios. Will this load EvoX as another name, so that i can keep the original as xboxdash? It runs fine as long as i have the chip on.
thanks

Hi I managed to sort the problem. If you've modded a crystal xbox for some reason they don't like to be chipped, but to get round this chip your xbox as normal and load on your evox dash, with the chip turned on run a copy of NINJA GAIDEN and go into the master ninja tournament your xbox will then do an auto update, let it do this until it is about to connect to live. When it starts to connect turn your console off. Now turn your chip off and hey presto m$dash and xbox live all should work fine.
