Hey all, don't know where else to turn to but here is my issue.

My Xbox (V1.0 with Xecuter 2.3 LPC) has been working for months now (I'd say about 7 or 8 months now) with no problems except for the occasional freeze or FRAG (which a slight bump to the xbox would always correct). However the FRAGing got worse to a point that it would not stop. So I opened the box up and checked out the chip. I moved it ever so slightly and bam. Now everytime I boot the thing I get about 2 seconds into the "flubber" screen before it FRAGS. When the "flubber" screen goes away I get the "Your Xbox Needs Service" screen. The kicker is, that screen displays NO error code at all.

I checked out the chip seating and frankly I don't see anything wrong with it. I checked for broken traces and the only thing I can see is that near the D0 point there is exposed copper on 3 of the traces, however they are not broken. I don't know if this would be causing the problem. Also, with the chip disabled I DO NOT get the yellow light to come on (tho frankly I don't remember ever getting it to come on).

I took the chip out and it does the same thing. I disconnected the HDD and the CD drive. Same thing. I put just the CD drive in, same thing. I tried to boot from Slayers but I get the same error. The only thing that DELAYED the error (meaning it took longer to come up) was disconnecting the CD drive but I assume it just took longer cause it was seeking the drive.

I have upgraded the HD to a 120gb drive and I believe i left it unlocked. Like I said the Xbox has been working fine for a long time. I'm at a loss right now as to what it can be.

Thanks for any help and sorry for the long post. I just wanted to provide as much info as i could.

Derek

if you modchip was working fine i cant see why it would have just stopped working... Try re-aligning again and maybe even remove and do a full re-install of it.. Once you get a modchip back into your xbox you will be able to fix the error you having..

What is the exact error code?? There should be a two digit error code in the top left hand corner of your screen.

hope you get it working soon.

cheers,

I have tried realigning the chip more times then i can count. I have also taken the chip out and reinstalled it about 10 times so far. I have removed every single wire one by one in the xbox in hopes of tracking down exactly what is causing the issue to no avail.

The Xbox Frags almost immediately when you turn it on. No reboot, no nothing. Just instant frag. It gets to the flubber screeen, the xbox logo then right to "Your Xbox Needs Service" with NO ERROR CODE. I have read that this could either be a bad HDD, a bad Dashboard file or a bad EEPROM but who knows. I can't even get it to attempt to boot from the DVD drive. I think either another mobo bites the dust or else the mod chip finally did.
