Hi Sixxx,

Ok lets get your xbox ftp sorted out for you..!!

But first, Please update your profile (signature) here:
http://xbox-hq.com/html/forums-profile-editprofile.html

Fill your signature our with as much info as possible. This will help us solve your probelms... Heres a example of a SIG.

THE SIGNATURE BELOW IS FOR A TOTAL NEWBIE WHO HAS JUST INSTALL A XECUTOR AND NOTHING ELSE:
Code:
[b]XBOX 1.3 [/b]
Xecuter 2.3 Lite +
Evox D6 Bios
Retail Xbox Hard Drive
Retail Dashboard (Original M$ Dash)

Ok, now you should'nt ever have to edit your .ini file directly to set up your network/ip address for your xbox unless you are doing it for booting off a CDRW/DVD-R.

You can edit your ip address by clicking on 'system management' then 'system settings' using any EVOX DASHBOARD.. Once you have that screen up you can just click the 'A' (green) XBOX BUTTON and change your network ip address.. You should also set your NETWORK IP to be static if you want to keep the same ip everytime.

Have you got flashfxp installed? You will need it to connect with your xbox properly..

anyway, more info needed so post away!!

hope that info helps..

on the start menu, XP view on win. open all connections, under "Connect to". Open the connection connected to you modem. Click properties, click configure. Click advanced, click 100 full mode. Also, under properties, click advanced, then under internet connection sharing "check" both. Back to the network connections screen. Click the one connected to your XBOX, the first thing you need to understand is what a crossover cable for RJ-45 connections is. If you dont know then look it up, its super important. Connect the crossover cable from your XBOX to the connection that's not connected to your modem. Then click properties on that modem, highlight internet protocol(tcp/ip), hit properties, use the default ip address given by your xbox,(through EVOX, settings)and leave default gateway blank, and the subnet mask I think is auto, if not enter it from the same settings on EVOX. Use "Flashfxp", to connect. I also renamed that connection XBOX-FTP, It kinda helps, this is for use with two ethernet cards. And thats the full tutorial.

Another way to ftp to your xbox using internet explorer. Open up the settings for your router, find the IP address that way. IT should list one for everything conected to it. Then once you have the IP. just type in

ftp://xbox:xbox@IPaddress

If you left the user and pass as default, that should get you into your xbox. Best of luck.

Post subject: add entry to hosts file for xbox
Reply with quote

heres another great tip.. Im sure none of you are doing it..

Im a web developer so when i use my home pc to create a website i like to pretend like its LIVE on the internet when using internet explorer..
Normally when developing a new site the site name is always http://localhost unless i tweak my hosts file like show below.

You can also use this tweak to give your own xbox or another machine on your network a NAME that your windows pc will recognise.. here goes..

1. Do a search on your windows machine for a file called 'hosts' (NO EXTENSION)...
2. Open this file in notepad
3. I will attach a sample of mine now its easy..

on xp its found under:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Code:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

127.0.0.1       xbox-hq.com
192.168.0.2   xbox

now to explain what this does...

My xbox has a static ip address of 192.168.0.2 so i have setup my windows machine to recognise the name XBOX as ip address 192.168.0.2.. Pretty simple eh..

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.2 xbox

Add as many as you like..

hope this helps some of you guys..

btw.. now with FLASHFXP you would connect to:
ip: xbox
user: xbox
pass: xbox

no what i mean?? Smile

take care
