I softmodded my new 1.6 version xbox with no problem, I then tried to softmod my friends xbox version 1.0 built in mexico 18th week of 02 kernel # 1.00.4034.01. I first tried ltools 1.8 with mechwarrior but it would not use the uxe file. I then tried ltools 1.75 with angent under fire it loaded all the way up until I selected the ude file. It then informed me that it is the wrong version and that I would need dashboard 4920 or another version which I do not remember. I have been searching for info on this with not much luck... any luck would be greatly appreciated..

You won't need MS dash 4920 soon, I'm releaseing a new Softmod Installer which works with MS dash 5960 (standard for 1.6 xboxes).
It should be out in a day or two if you can hold out that long...

Just to add more information to my last post:
What my softmod installer will let you do is install the softmod to your xbox, then you could easily boot up Auto-Installer Deluxe, unlock your drive, format c, install ms dash 5960, unlock, then reboot.
This will wipe out the softmod done on C drive, but you will have the latest dash for it to work with, once you do the softmod again you can have the MS dashboard

Another thing you could do is just play any live game, and try to access xbox live, this will automatically update the dasbhoard, just make sure to delete the hacked game save, just incase. _________________
