Is their software that will defrag my hard drive. After loading and unloading games, I'm assuming it needs defrag. Any comments would help.

Actually, I was thinking about that, too.
I mean, if you're adding such large amounts of info, and later removing it (assuming you remove it at some point), won't the data be all spread out on the HDD, and defragging could give you a lot of room back and decrease your load/access times...
I guess what sikdude and myself were wondering was "Is it ever necessary and/or beneficial to defrag your Xbox HDD, and if so, how could it be done? Any software on the horizons for doing so? If not, why isn't it necessary/beneficial?
I had also wondered about the possibility of Xbox viruses (virulli?) existing, and what possible damage they could cause if they existed.

This is actually a widely asked question and on other forums there's a 40 page disussion from people in regard to the need of this type of application. Unfortunately, there is no windows like OS on the xbox so you aren't going to get that type of system tool.
Don't feel bad for asking though, like I said I have seen this question asked a gazillion times.
later man

I don't see why it could'nt be done, for the moment all you can do is backup, format and re-install.
virus would be difficult as thier is no registry etc. Im sure someone could make one, like you download an app or game and the defualt.xbe actually formats ur drive or something
lets hope not

I don't think there's a whole lot of risk regarding viruses, especially given our type of community. The only entity I consider capable of creating such a virus that has the motivation to is Microsoft.
You know, not necessarily a virus per se, but a program that runs when you connect to the Live service or when loading a game. It could have a list of directories that it knows are unauthorized and delete them, or it could hunt down default.xbes on the HDD and delete them (or make it so they don't work) or something like that. Not that they WILL make one of these, but it's a possibility...
And for as much as they're against modding, I wouldn't put it past them.
