Many Xbox users might not know this that the Xbox 1.6 versions which use the Xcalibur video encoder will refuse to play certain games in 480p. That's even though those games do support 480p and will play perfectly at that resolution on other version Xboxes which are fitted with the Focus or Conexant video encoders.
There are various fixes and tricks to get around this like using particular loaders that come with other games and simply launching them from another dashboard installed as app can work. But this is all a bit messy and unsophisticated.
A guy who's user name is well known across a number of Xbox forums and web sites, Rocky5, has put it all together in one XBMC4Xbox script set. When the appropriate script is applied to each 'problem' game, installed on the HDD using DVD2Xbox, it will fix it to be able to play at 480p.
It should work on both PAL and NTSC game versions but, obviously, the Xbox must either be natively NTSC or a PAL one region changed to NTSC to be able to select the 480p display option.
Of course you do need XBMC4Xbox to use this script and it must be v3.5.0 or above. XBMC4Xbox can be (and IMHO should be) installed as an app even if your main dash is UnleashX. As an app it will work in just the same way.

Note the compatibility list - there are some games that will not work at all at 480p on a v1.6. Apparently as far as is known nothing can be done about that. However if someone here does have a solution for any of those non-working games please share the information.

The v1.6 480p Loader scripts have since been updated several times and the 'final' version is an Auto-Loader which will, on activation, search through your games' folders and apply the correct loader automatically.
It also has an uninstaller and manual install options. The latter means any game not on the original list of known games with this problem can still be individually patched too.
