My brother has a 1.0 xbox and I have a 1.6 and we were thinking of trading so I could get a solderless mod chip. Is this a good idea? They have been played about the same amount. Does anyone have a list of the the differences are between the two?

Also I was thinking of putting in a 80mm LED fan and a 7200 120GB hard drive is this a good or bad idea? I'm also thinking of getting a skin so what kind of heat issuses will i have. I'm kinda new to the xbox modding scene so don't be afraid to go the extra mile to explain things in great detail.

As for a mod chip I havent decided. I was wondering what you guys think is the best? Heres what I'd like to be able to do...
Play DVD's, play back-ups of games, emulate PS2 and gamecube ( i heard that was possible) and I'd also like to be able to have a USB port and not have to solder it in if at all possible... Anything else I should know about mod-chips before I get one?

Thanks

Dreyco

its not the modchip that allows you to to all the cool stuff ,

its the hacked bios that you have to put on the modchip ,

modchip only stores the extra bios and allows you to boot it ,

the difference between the xbox versions is just a different design
and different hardware , nothing you should care for , they all do the same thing ,

now as for swapping 1.6 for 1.0 would be a good idea ,
but you will have to solder the 1.0 xbox to remove the solder from
the lpc holes (thats where the solderless adapter fits in )
it is pretty hard to do if you havent soldered anything before ,
but its easier then rebuilding the lpc on 1.6
so no matter which xbox u keep u gonna have to solder something ,

as for the chip .... get a xenium

and you dont need a larger fan , i have installed harddrives
from 80 to 250 gigs , none of the xboxes had any heat issues ,
and thats without upping the stock fans speed ,

you can not play ps2 games on the modded xbox , only some ps1 games,
cant play gamecube games either that i know of ,
only stuff like n64 snes atari arcade etc

The 1.0 mobo's stay a lot cooler too, cuz of the extra fan.

I noticed that the last two 1.0's I did hover around 120 degrees with 250GB HD's in them, while the 1.6's were 147 degrees respectively.

I don't think there is a need for a larger fan with the 1.0

later man
