I'm a noob when it comes to modding xbox's... along time ago I had a friend mod my box by installing a new hd and then softmodding it, a while ago I was no longer able to lauch my back up games from the hd (my disc drive is on the fritz) it just freezes at the evoX splash screen...
I have the Evolution X v.3921 as my main dashboard, I just recently was able to connect to the xbox with a FTP program and I cleared the cach which did'nt help. Another issue is that if I try my MS Dashboard I get error 21, also my clock says it's "5/21-8907" if that makes a differance.
So I need help so I can launch games from the HD again, where can I find replacement files for the MS Dashboard so I can overwrite my old ones and hopefuly fix that error 21, and on a side note can I fix that date from anywhere else besides the ms dash? thank you.

Grab Pimped Final or Autobuilder and its got M$ Dash, 4 different hacked dashboards and mod files if you need to redo the mod. Can also be used as a last resort for a PC based rebuild of the XBOX hdd

can either of those be used off a laptop or will it have to be done with a desktop? Also do I need a eeprom reader when my hd is a unlocked aftermarket one?

You can FTP over the M$ Dash and any other files needed, or use a desktop to do a full rebuild

I've been trying to copy over xbox dashboard files using filezilla but now it's having connection issues... Now the xbox is in even worse shape... might have to resort to a complete redo...

If you are forced to do a full rebuild Pimped or Autobuilder will bring you out smelling like a rose witha fully loaded HDD. For FTP I just use IE seems to be more XBOX friendly than Filezilla in my experience

I downloaded Pimped FinalV2 but I got afew concerns, it came in two files the first has a boot disk file and a install disk file where the second file has a install disk file, so when I burn these to dvd's do I need a special burn program? I'm not familier with *.iso files. It's mentioned that I should copy a eeprom file to the install disc, is that required? how does the whole lock/unlock thing come into play? also I have some games on the F drive will this delete them? thank you.

The eeprom is a special lock file that all XBOXs have. By adding it to the boot disc you will be able to unlock the drive to do the work and relock it when done so you dont get hit with an error screen. Imgburn works great for burning the discs. Your F drive will be safe, when you rebuild the drive it will format C and E and ask if you want to format F to which you answer no and all your games will be fine
If you follow this video you should be golden

I've only copied/burned data files I've never dealt with image files, can they be burned with stock windows files or will I need a special program to deal with image files also would I first want to do the image burn than copy eeprom to the disc, where is the eeprom file anyway?
Will I be missing out on anything if I skip the step about formatting the F drive? Another words is there anything that would of been installed if I did format it?

I wouldnt be caught dead using Windows to burn an ISO. Use ImgBurn its free and its the best burn program out there. Nothing gets installed to F, it just formats it if you answer yes
Eeprom.bin file should be in E/Backups.

ok I tried to pimp my hd and after the initial xbox boot up it does nothing (green ring but nothing on the tv)... while it's doing nothing I figured I'd try a hot swap so I the unplug the ribbon to my disc drive to do a hot swap and instead of a error 12 I get a error 7... what should I do now???
I placed my xbox hd into my computer without any other drives plugged in, I might of forgot to unlock it the first time but ran the program which went through all steps from the video without a problem except "install F drive" which made some noise and game me some funky charicters instead of readable text... than I relocked it... tried it and it did nothing... tried it again this time I made sure to hit 3 and unlocked it, went through all steps without a problem including F drive install, relocked the hd placed in xbox and nothing once again... than I tried to hot swap scence nothing else was happening so I unplugged the ribbon from the xbox disc drive while it was in coma mode and hit the eject button twice, I got error code 07 instead of the expected 12... what can I do to fix this heap???

If you get E7 after rebuild check your IDE cable. E7 is usualy caused by it not being plugged in all the way, to the DVD drive, MOBO or HDD

What if it is plugged in all the way? and I only get that error when I unplug the dvd drive and open/close the tray... If I just boot up the xbox after reinstalling the drive it does the xbox intro pulsing thing than nothing... it's a green ring with nothing on the tv...

one of the many things I don't get is why I was able to get to the xecutor dash before the pimped final install and now after the install it doesn't do anything...
