Hey folks ; Total newbie here (Really I am) !! I was given a regular XBOX by my son-in-law. I don't think it's ever had anything done to it. I don't know how many people have owned it. What want to do is copy the music that's on it to my PC. I have a crossover cable and a Network card in my PC. I have also downloaded Flash FXP. What is the simplest way to accomplish this? I've tried the tutorial located here, http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-204.html but I still can't to seem to get it to work. I've tried to look this up on the "Net" also but nothing seems to work. Like I've said I'm a complete newbie to this so please be patient. You need your Xbox hacked to FTP. And then after that you can't simply just do it, you would probably need to create a boot disc or use another Xbox to get the software required to FTP music and then play it.

Prehistoricman ; Again, I'm sorry for the ignorance on this subject ! So that being said can you point me in the direction that I need to be able to accomplish what I need to do? I don't know how to hack my Xbox to FTP. Like I said I have a download of "FlashFTP' and a crossover cable but still don't know the specifics on how to accomplish it. Looks like you would want a softmod. Softmods allow you to run a gamesave that will make the Xbox boot another program. When it has done that you can exploit the dashboard to run whatever you like.
I'm not a softmod person so you wouldn't get any specifics from me. I do hardmods.

To softmod your Xbox you will need to get Softmod Installer Deluxe from www.aidtracker.com using your favorite torrent program (like uTorrent). I think it comes with a pdf guide but if it doesn't post back and I will point you in the right direction. _________________

Hey dartht33bagger ; Would the program "Softmod Installer Delux v5.01" be Okay for what I'm trying to do? The reason I'm looking at the smallest one is because I have to use "Dial-Up" out here in the country where I live. My only choices for internet connection is "Dial-Up" or "Sat" which I can't afford, so I have to go the turtle way ! Thank you for you time , ...cougar...

Well dartht33bagger ; I did some looking and found "uTorrent" at CNET and downloaded it. When I tried to run the program a message window popped up saying "uTorrent.exe is not a valid Win32 application" ! So now I'm kind of at a loss again. Any suggestions? Thanks, ...cougar...

I use a program called "uTorrent" to download torrents..
Grab it from here: http://www.utorrent.com (it's free)
Then you can just click on the .torrent files and open them with "uTorrent" and they will start downloading..
ALSO:
If you can afford to donate and become a VIP member on HQ, you can download from the VIP Downloads area or VIP FTP Server.. That may be easier for you. But torrents are something you will need to learn about anyway! heheh
Exactly what all the others are saying, you will want to softmod your console. And from there you can play downloaded movies, DVD's, games and more using a application for modded xbox consoles called Xbox Media Center. I personally recommend to just do a simple USB controller cable modification and then using USB FATX Formatter to format your USB drive instead of buying a Action Replay to softmod your xbox.
Creating a modded USB controller cable is simple! All you do is buy a USB extender cable (like this) and then cut the xbox cable down the middle, same with the USB extender cable and then just join the wires together. You will notice there is an extra yellow wire although ignore it as it does nothing. The only thing you have to make sure you do is have the female end of the USB cable connected to the part of the xbox cable which plugs into the xbox otherwise you won't be able to plug anything into it. _________________

SID 5.01 will work fine.
Try downloading it from here (click on free download):http://www.utorrent.com/utorrent-plus/index/frmnvh. If you still get the error then your computer may have a virus of some sort. _________________

I currently run these virus programs, Ad-Aware,Malware Anti-malware, Spybot, AVG as well as the built in Microsoft stuff. Sorry it took me so long to respond but I gt so frustrated with what I think should be simple stuff that I give up or a while,LOL. Any suggestions now?? ...cougar...
