I've done a lot of softmods but I've never had this problem before.

Using sid when it starts to transfer all of the files it gets stuck at 97% of shadowc.img does it every time, I've been through it about four or five times now. Unfortunately I am not familiar with any other way of softmodding so if somebody could point me in the easiest direction to go here that would be great.

Ive been using it a long time, way before SID and I have never had an issue with it making the shadow C.

Thats what I ended up doing. I got a dashboard on it, but I think the hard drive is dying. Freezes up doing transfers. So I'll have to tsop it and throw a drive in it I suppose.

You could always get the eeprom off the xbox and build a new hard drive with your chipped xbox if its possible to get the eeprom off the drive.

Yes the drive still works so I could get the eeprom and build a drive with another box. I think tho I'd rather tsop it so that I can just use any old hard drive and not worry about compatibility.

I've never done a TSOP. I have a 1.4 around here that I have been wanting to TSOP for years but I have never got around to trying it. You should report back on how you did it if you do TSOP it.

I've done several that way, its like a free modchip. Very easy to do. I've got everything you need when you decide to do it. It takes longer to get the box ripped apart than to actually do the flashing.

I've always just been a little worried about the flashing. I never really looked into how you actually flash the TSOP. The soldering looks easy enough, but I don't want a bricked xbox laying around.

Theyre always good for parts Very Happy

I bricked a stock drive a while back without getting the eeprom for the xbox. From what I read in the book by the guy who originaly dumped the xbox way back certain models worked better than others for doing it, something about empty banks to load BIOS into

I think it's the earlier 1.0-1.1 that has some empty banks so if you mess up you can re-route the power so that you can overwrite the empty banks. The 1.2-1.5 have just one big flash chunk I think that is 1mb or something like that.

Can a TSOP hold the 512k X2 5035 bios?

If I remember right its the 1.0-1.1 that has the 1mb and the rest 256kb maybe? I dunno I have it all written down here with pictures in my pc somewhere. I have an x2 5035 bios running on this v1.0 here that I did a long time ago so yes, the older boxes are the ones that take the large bios. I used some flash utility that was just like sid, a splinter cell game save so you can do it without having to softmod or whatever first.

Well the tut I always used to look at on xbox linux.org is now gone I guess because xboxlinux.org won't load. I can't even remember what the wiring is or the bios sizes.

its 1mb, the originals (1.0, 1.1) had the split banks 1.4 and 1.5 had a solid 1mb bank. At least according to all the tutorial Ive read on TSOP. I thought it was kinda passe now to use TSOP since you can get a safer and effective equivalent with Uber. Is it still the old Raincoat method or have they come up with an easier disc based method? Ive noticed on UBD4 that it has TSOP flash options, I guess thats the post softmod method mentioned abaove? I would have figured by now flashing the TSOP would be like doing a BIOS update on a PC, quick and simple.
