This is crazy, I wonder if anyone has had it happen or knows why its happening.
I fire up my living room xbox yesterday and my dvd remote wasnt working. So I change batteries, and still nothing. That was plugged into port 4. So I pop a controller into port 1, and I get nothing.
Obviously I think at this point that something came loose inside the box. It hasnt been open in six months, so thats strange. I open it up and take a look, everything seems fine.
So I fire it back up, open up a generic controller right out of a package that I had put away, controller is brand new, plug it into port 1, and it works. So then I'm all confused.
So I grab up another wireless controller I have around, plug that in, and it doesnt work. but the generic one does.
So I take all of the controllers to another xbox, and what do you know, they're all dead. So this xbox has killed two controllers and a dvd remote. But the cheapo generic gamestop ones work fine. Why would this happen, are the xbox gods just mad at me or what?

u may have the wiring done wrong, and the xbox maybe sending too much voltage to the controllers and burning them out
