Hi.
Um, I just bought an xbox recently from a local pawn shop. Said cool, took it home, and plugged it in.
Up pops MxM. Like, sweet, I lucked out on a modded system. Its looking to have a larger hard drive (or second hard drive) in there, as well as a bunch of apps etc. My problem, is I'm not a fan of 80% of the games in there.
Now, I've never done any console modding before... I have a DS that I play, but my last console I had, was an n64... and that was years ago... I've mostly been stuck on PC stuff.
So, um, I've looked around the net, etc... and everything I've seen is 'install this modchip, or that one, and install this program, and connect in, and follow these instructions in the manual... but I'm having trouble finding just simple instructions on how to access the mod part of my xbox...
do I have to plug it into my router and run with it (kind of hard, my computer's on wireless... the router is in a room I can't access easily). Or, um, could I just hook it up straight to my computer or.. um.
Someone told me I would have to FTP into my xbox, but, I'm familiar with FTP, just not xboxs
Well what I'm asking, is, as a new to xbox (this is the first one I've ever owned) um, how would/do I get access to my xbox?

First of all if you just want to remove files like games you can just use the file manager to do that but if you want to access the xbox with your PC you can use this guide here: Cross-over cable OR Ethernet patch cable?!.. http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-275.html
I 'do' have a router, but my problem is is I'm on a wireless router, the router is across the house from my computer/xbox.
I have a cross over cable now (just bought one).
plugged in my computer to the xbox... ok.
started following guide... have DHCP enabled ... ok
Turn on computer *I'm on it now*
Turn on Xbox... ok
Windows says 'limited or no connection to network (aka xbox)
Xbox says ip: 192.168.0.3 Static (why static)
did an ipconfig... ethernet controller (not wireless card) 169.254.29.244
Ran the FTP pgroam (filezilla) 192.168.0.3 name xbox, pass xbox.
no go
Installed Flashfxp. "quick connect, 192.168.0.3... port 21... fail."
It takes an age for my computer to aqquire its address... then comes up 'limited to no connection.
I followed the guide to a T... just very confused.

Well, just grab your XBXO IP (make sure its set to Static so it doesnt get a new IP assigned by the router) and plug the xbox in near the router and make sure the video cable is plugged into the xbox only as it will not boot correctly if not. Then make sure your computer is still connected to your wireless network and then put in the IP you set up on your xbox and connect and you should be good to go!
Honestly, a crossover cable is the best way, but if your having issues you may need to stick with the router idea!
Got it working... FTP'ed to the xbox... said 'there's the game folders'... deleted the game folders (e: etc etc) all the nitty gritty files.
Rebooted the xbox... and the game pointer is still there but the game wont load (supprise supprise) I deleted the game files. Knowing my luck, I mucked up.
now to find where those pointers are to delete them.
Edit: nevermind
found I just had to go in some obscure menu and just reset the menu cache. Now that the menu is reset, its good.
Thanks For your help... I'll be lurking here for a while.
