this modchip burnt on the power switch, so the box would stay on. i know the chip fried and everything worked like a normal xbox. i took the modchip out, switched the motherboard, power supply, and harddrive(yes i switched the eeproms) to a totally different case. when i put it back together i am not getting any power. the chip pin plug is still in but nothing of the chip is connected.

i need some help because i know nothing about chips at all. im a softmod guy and i need to get this box to work, because i know it works.

the xbox turned on before i swapped the cases and took out the chip. but it would turn on as soon as you plugged it in, like it was stuck on.

If its a version 1.6 there`s a possibility its shorted out if you fitted it into a 1.0 -1.5 case, theres an extra standoff in the earlier cases that isnt in the 1.6 case (have a look at the sheilding in front of the A/V port)
Or
the transistor between the capacitor and the video chip has blown :

it was moved from a 1.6 case into a 1.0 case so that means it shorted?

Yeah, sounds like its knackered.
Click the sickmods link in my previous post, then click on the install guide, theres a better description to a soloution for your problem. (the transistor is only $1 and it looks like an easy fix).
