Hi All,

I hope I haven't completely broken this, but here goes.

I ran the SID 5.0 Splintercell softmod, and did the backups, then the dual boot installer. After it had completed the installer it said that it needed to reboot to complete the softmod. After rebooting, boots if I use teh eject button, or runs a game if there is a game in it, but if I use teh power button it goes to "21 Service required. Call Customer Support" and the LEDs flash red and green.

I tried running the softmod again, but instead of going into the softmod installer, the screen goes white, and then the game reboots. I also tried deleting the savegame and installer from the xbox HD and copying them on again, but get the same result.

Have I killed it ? or is this recoverable without opening up the case ?

Thanks

edit: If I boot the MS dash by using ythe eject button, and I try to go into either xboxlive or network setup, the xbox appears tio hang (black screen but LEDs remain on green).

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer. Very Happy

Sounds to me like the dash got full on bashed, if you try booting with the power button do you get the orange ring around the eject button?
Did you use the virtual C drive?

Many thanks for the kind welcome.

If I boot with the power button, the front led's are green while the initial green plasma, then slash X logo with white microsoft appear, then it goes to a multi language in green text "Service required. Call Customer Support." with a white 21 in the top left of the screen and the front LEDs are flashing red and green

I don't follow what you mean about the virtual C drive

Thanks

Sounds like you might have went in to live with the soft mod active, try popping in an xbox live enabled game with the Ethernet cable unplugged and see if it will update the dash for you.

Halo 2 works best from what i hear.

Hi,

Unfortunately, that made matters worse. If I boot the xbox with either the power button, or the eject button and no game in teh drive, I get the multi language in green text "Service required. Call Customer Support." with a white 21 in the top left of the screen with the front LEDs flashing red and green Sad

No its never toast unless you put it in an oven, i would do a hot swap and that can be tricky for some but if its dead why not right.

WooHoo

I booted from a XBMCHDM dvd which allowed me to recover the backups I made at the beginning of the softmod install, then made a new one with after copying the contents of the eeprom folder in, and then it booted straight into XBMC on using the power button !

If however I try to boot it with the eject button, I still get the error 21

If I use the XBMC file manager, it shows the C drive as being empty, could this be why I get the error 21?

Cheers

edit: I suppose the question I'm asking is, what do I need to do to be able to make it boot using the eject button, as well as the power button?

Just pop in your AID disk and have it install the MS dash to C and the 21 will go away. Very Happy
