I want to rip a few of my kids DVD's to the Xbox to preserve the orginals. Using DVD2Xbox what is the best method of ripping them (ISO v Regular) and method of playing them back in XBMC (stacked etc)? Ideally I would like to click on a single icon that will play the entire movie rather than having to click on multiple vobs.

Any good idiots guides on this?

I understand that ripping complete DVD's takes up over 4GB space but this is not a problem. Also this Xbox wont be connected to my LAN so ripping them with DVD Decryter to single ISO'and FTP'n them accross is not feasible.

Many thanks

If you are running XBMC as your dash you can just rip it with DVD2xbox as ISO and then high light the file in XBMC and hit the white button and select play.

Just discovered that DVD2Xbox cannot rip the latest Disney movies due to the Copy Protection so I am going to have rip via my PC and FTP them over which is going to take forever.

I guess the .vob files need to under 4gb so I either use something like DVD shrink or some other format.

Thanks anyway.

You can shrink them but its not a must, XBMC will recognize larger ISOs just fine.

So it will recognise and play a files greater than 4gb (both iso and vob)? Just bought the movie 'Underdog' for my kid and the ISO is >6GB but and uncompressed vob of the main title is 3GB!

Any better ways of getting them from my PC to the Xbox other than FlashFXP? I am getting around 10Mbps transfer rate via my router - I do have a crossover cable too to utilise too.

Actually, at 10Mbps, it did not take that long to FTP over. I used DVD shrink to extract the main title with no compression to a VOB. It works a treat and a simple click on the folder within My Movies automatically starts the movie.

Cheers.
