I have no idea what prompted them to put out this piece of junk, but on my Mandriva 2008 the new firefox just doesn't work right...after reading the forums on mozilla's site, it looks like a lot of linux users are having a lot of issues with it...I could deal with it not being able to handle youtube, but when i tried to log in here and it just kept freezing up I almost lost it...it works great on win xp tho, i had to boot in there to go download the tarball for opera so i have something to use on linux till they get it right...anybody here seen it running good on linux please let me know because i really like that browser...its just so slow and unpredictable its almost comical how frustrating it is trying to use it

Yeah, same here.
Running Vista and FireFox and last year i was one of the guys that wold not touch vista till they worked out the crap.
I'm in no way saying i cant find a reason to complain about Vista but thats any OS, as for FireFox its like Vista since you just got to work with it till you find a set up that works for you. _________________
Did u try firefox 3 yet?? im using that for xp pro sp3 and it works fine. _________________

Yeah firefox 3 works great on my win xp partition...but in mandriva its almost funny watching it lock up or just exit all by itself...i just don't like using xp because it boots a lot slower than linux, and theres a lot more overhead to slow you down...also the two new versions of firefox look completely different, the linux version is pretty plain, they hardly changed the interface at all...i'm just gonna use opera for a little while until some patches come out

Have you ever tired using Ubuntu 8.04?? I used it before and it has firefox incorprated into it. And it works great. Ubuntu is also a linux platform and is alot faster than xp and def. vista. _________________

I thought about ubuntu but I'm not real familiar with linux so I was able to get a Mandriva live cd and just install off of that...from what I've read ubuntu is not quite as forgiving to beginners...but the firefox 2.0 that came with mandrivawas great...the funny thing is that after upgrading I went back and tried to use 2.0, but apparently the upgrade replaces some of the files, because now 2.0 doesn't work right either...I'm running opera 9.51 now and actually I think its probably a little faster and better than firefox anyways...but I'm thinking about doing away with xp altogether once I figure out what linux distro I like so I'll probably set up this old pc I have over here with either ubuntu or fedora and see what that runs like

I've got FF3 running on my Fedora box no problem... only thing is Flash player sucks and continually crashes... however no firefox problems for me.

I'm running OpenSuse 11 and I don't have any problems with Firefox 3 in any of my two computers running OpenSuse 11 you should try

Thats the thing with coming into linux for the first time...everybody suggests a different distro so finally one day said screw it and went with mandriva...the whole process is intimidating when you've been using ms crap since dos 3.3...so i'm willing to try any distro, i have a junk pc over here and old amd k6-2 400mhz with three old hdds in it i'm gonna load up with other distros and see how they feel...

try DSL, it worked on my 150mhz laptop, with 32mb of ram, i currently dualboot ubuntu 8.04 and windows MCE, and use firefox in both of them, and the fireofx in linux seems more stable to the one in windows. firefox claims they fixed 11,000 issues, MY ass, it still seems the same as beta 5 _________________

hiya mate
used firefox for a while now and updated to version 3 no problem . it runs fine on my XP Pro - P4 2.2.gig 1gig ddr. but my bro has had a nightmare with it and hes got a better system . even got to ftp to xbox with their addon tool - which works great but slow compared to flashFXP
