Posted: Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:07 pm Post subject: HELP!!!!! cant hotswap or ftp the hard disk please HELP!!!!!
we are trying to get the xbox (first one) hard disk to connect with the computer. we have tryed using the ftp way and it just wont conect. we have also tryed using hotswap, we have done it in many different ways looking over many websites for help and it WONT connect properly! this is really anoying and i am probably doing something wrong, if there are any pointers or help out there i would be happy to know what we are doing wrong?
ALSO if we are puting in a new hard drive do we have to put a moded dashboard on the old hardrive and then copy it accros using chimp or copy the harddrvie using chimp and put a new dash board onto the new harddisk??????????

Well for the FTP, are you going right to the PC or are you going with a router, static or DHCP IP, cross over or cat5, did you put in the user name and password, did you make sure boost and passive mode are off and what dash are you using?
With chimp it will copy the HDD one to one so you can do it both ways. _________________

dhcp through a router. i have a totally standard xbox version 1.4 or 1.5. apparently, i have been told an xbox cannot ftp unless it has a mod chip. iv also been told i need a modchip to run a non xbox HDD. any help with this would be great nbecause i was under the impression it could all be done without chipping the xbox. can you ftp with the standard dash. if not how do you get a modded dash such as XBMC onto the HDD in the first place.

right. i bought the splinter cell versoin of the game. is it similar to the mech assult way? once the dash is modded to evox or unleashx i can run ftp right and change to XBMC through the ftp.
is there any software that allows it to over look no disk drive of do i have to rip one up?
also what bits of software would i need to clone to a new HDD and then copy games 'backup' and then play them again. i know i could use chimp and then dvd2xbox. is there anythingelse ill need to get it up and running.
last thing. any ideas for where i can mount the new HDD in my slimbox (cutting done) could i cut down the origional mounting system or would you suggest somehow putting it where the dvd drive used to be.

Splintercell will work fine and the steps to your soft mod are the same, once you got evox or unleash running you can get AID 4.20 and it will install XBMC for you or you can get XBMC from the T3CH (link to T3CH is in the guide under my sig) and FTP it in to your xbox, the T3CH builds have the short cut for making XBMC your main dash.
Once you have the larger dash in and running using the eeprom file from the stock HDD you moded, you will just need to use xboxpartitioner (found on the AID 4.20 sisk) to make the extra HDD space show up in the F drive.
To do away with the DVD drive with out cutting up the disk drive you could do a TSOP on the xbox and use the X-2 bios with X-2 config App and it will over look the disk drive that way.
TSOP's are not as easy to do as the soft mod and can ruin the xbox if not done right. _________________
yea, i'm working on softmodding my xbox with TSOP, but i tried hotswaaping and be careful, cause it could damage ur HDD like i did. so now it barely runs, sometimes it doesn't, u can't FTP into cause the system locks it down, unless it softmodded. _________________
