Hi...really new to softmod scene so be easy with me.My problem is that I have softmodded my crysatl Xbox with SID 4 and Splinter Cell. All is well but when I go to where my new dash should be it still has the original ms one.Cant seem to get the new dashs on but I have no error messages to tell me I've done something wrong.
I did read that about newer SID's.Is this what I'll need to use?
Any help please.

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer.
The MS dash is in the C drive and your new dash or hack dash should be in the E drive, you can download AID 4.20 and burn the ISO to disk and it will install the dash for you.
Aid comes with guides on how to set it up, burn it and all that so all you got to do is make sure when you launch it you use the softmod dash install and not the chip install. _________________

Sounds daft but I've had and still having loads of problems with my internet provider throttling my connection when it comes to torrents.
I'm currently looking for another provider but in the meantime is there anywhere else I can get AID 4.20?
If I go vip on this site can I get it?

Great stuff.got the xbox all modded now .Thanks for the above AID files.
I'm keen to put some roms into the emulators that I've got on the xbox.
I've read that I need to connect my Xbox upto the pc.Haven't got wireless connection yet so am I right to buy a crossover cable.I take it this cable does the same job as a wireless connection would?

If you are using a router to connect the PC and xbox you can use a normel cat 5 cable.
This guide will show how to set up FTP with and with out a router: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-204.html _________________

Make sure you back up your xbox eeprom.bin file as soon as you can. _________________

Right ...the latest problem is that I cant get the ftp program to recognise the xbox.I followed the tutorial you linked me and set up ip etc.I pinged the ip address like it said and that works ok.I bought both a cross over and a striaght cable(via ebay) and tried both in the back of the pc but its the cross over one which i think i need.It pings good with both cables though.Any ideas cos I've really run out of them.

If you're going straight from one box to another, then it'll be the crossover you want. If you're going via a router or switch, then straights can be used.
Its worth noting that you can ping an IP even if yours isn't in the same range. For example, I could ping 192.168.0.100 if my pc's IP was something like 61.25.45.30.
However, if you want connectivity and communication between them, put them both in the same IP range. So both should be: 192.168.0.xx (where xx changes for Xbox and PC).
