This sound stupid, but I need help flashing my bios. I have zenium chip, Xbox version 1.0, stock hard drive; I am trying to flach Cromwell, but am obviously doing something wrong. (I do not yet have Exolution X loaded yet) I am burning using Roxio 6 onto Memorex cdrw, and then to tdk cdrw, but Xbox will not read.....frustrated!!!!!

To flash the Xenium Ice modchip, it's rather easy. First, I recommend downloading Xecuter2 4983.06 or Xecuter2 4983.67 bios....the .06 will give you up to F drive, the .67 will give you up to G drive.
First, you need to decide whether you want to flash via FTP or via CD. I'll go over CD First.
I recommend Nero to be used to create the bios cd. You will want to burn the bios.bin and a dummy file at least 50mb to your bios disk. The reason you do the dummy file is because the bios is only 256K and your xbox may not read it alone. By puttting a dummy file on there you enhance the chance of files being read off the disk.
If you have any questions on Nero and can't find the proper tutorial, please let me know. Just make sure you are not burning a multisession disk, you use disk at once, and burn at a nice slow speed.
Turn on your xbox so you are at the red Xenium ice menu screen.
Insert your bios disk.
If you have not flashed the TSOP, DO SO NOW. do not flash the modchip if you haven't assigned the TSOP yet.
Go to your launch menu and click add item. You should be confronted with the TSOP, FLASH menu. Select TSOP. It will be named retail kernel. You can keep this name, or change it to whatever you want. Retail Kernel is a fancy way of saying you will be directed to the MS Dashboard if you choose me. I usually rename it to MS Dashboard so my customers are not confused.
Next you will assign an LED color to the TSOP choice. Choose whatever color you want, it makes no difference. This is so you can always look at the led on the chip to see if it is deactived if booting ms dash/ms bios.
Next, we are going to flash your modchip. Choose add item again. This time, select FLASH. If your bios CD is created properly, you will see a list of drives to choose your flash from. C, D, E, F, X, Y, Z... D is your DVD drive, choose it.
You should see your dummy file and a bios.bin file. Highlight the bios.bin file and hit the A button on your controller. You will now name your flash. I suggest just naming it Evolution X dashboard cuz that is where it is going to take you when you click it from the menu.
Assign a different LED color than the TSOP. You are done.
You can now run a Autoinstaller disk and install all of your dashboards and applications.
If you wish to FTP the bios.bin file to your HD, let me know. I'll tell you how to do that too.

I have flashed my bios with xecuter 4983 and have xbox-hq 1.3 autoinstaller burned to a disk. When I boot from xecuter bios, my xbox will not read the autointaller disk. Did I burn the disk wrong? Should I have ONLY burned the iso image and not the rest of the files on the autointaller? Also, when I boot from xecuter bios, what looks like the MS dash comes up, but it says executer2 at the bottom of the screen. Is that correct?

u have to burn the iso image on the cd or dvd ,
u have to burn it as a iso image and not a data disc and putting the iso on the cd
it says xecuter on the bottom because its xecuters bios , its all good ,
if you have nero , open nero burning rom , go to file /open , select iso /click ok put the disc in and click Burn icon , thats it

Hey bud, you are almost there!! You definitely have flashed your bios correctly...CONGRATS!!!!
Keep us posted on your AI burning. bobrownik is right, you cannot burn it as a data disk...that is a common mistake.
I use my favorite DVD Burning software "CloneDVD2" to burn my .ISO's
It supports DVD5 and DVD9 burning, which is cool.
It is available as a trial download at www.elby.ch if you are still having problems.
It lets you burn three disks before you have to buy it So, if you end up not getting Nero or other programs to work, just download this. It never fails!! I always suggest buring to DVD but, you can try a CDRW using Nero if you wish.
Let me know if you want to try CloneDVD2... I can even point you to a key in the event you want to keep it

I have burned the iso of the autoinstaller onto a dvd-r a couple of different times, and I still cannot get my xbox to boot to the evox dashboard setup....all it keeps saying is that the xbox cannot read the desc. I am not sure as to what to do now!!!! Frustrated...
When I open my d: drive within the xenium operating system I am able to read the disc (EAI13F.ISO), but when I try to open that file I get Error: File doesn't fit! I don't think that I am supposed to be able to open the file that way anyhow. Do I need to rename the iso to get it to boot from xecuter2? I don't seem to be having any trouble with my media being able to be read. Can anyone call me? 541-520-0238, Aaron

Hey Aaron,
When are you inserting the disk, before or after you launch your bios??
Do this. Turn your xbox on. At the first red screen you get, eject your tray and put the disk in. Wait a minute, give the dvd rom drive time to read the disk. Give it at least twenty seconds.
Then, choose your Xecuter bios. If you launch right to the MS Dash and then put the disk in.

No, you do not have to rename.

That was the ticket (cloneDVD2) Got home from work, burned the iso with that program and launced right to AutoInstaller!!!! WOOHOO!!!
Have everything (that I understand so far) set up and am ready to start seeing what this thing can do. My first mission is to make backups of my games...I am having a little difficulty networking my PC and my xbox. Can you direct me to a good program that enables me to pull an iso(?) from a game on my xbox to my pc for burning? And any other setup help would be greatly appreciated!!

use cloneXB for the backing up the iso onto the PC hdd. If you want to back it up on to the xbox hdd then use Complex tools

Yeah, that program is friggin awesome for burning .ISO's not too mention it does a great job with DVD's too!! I have never burned a coaster using that program.
The only coaster I ever burned was DL Disk. I didn't have the updated version and tried burning DVD9 media. The new download that you grabbed will have support for DVD9 now!
PM me your email address and I'll email you the key. It's a little exe file that all you have to do is double click it and it will patch your registry.
If you are going to use to copy movies, you will also need something to get rid of the the copy protection. Otherwise, CloneDVD2 will tell you it's not allowed to read copy protected disks.
I used a program called DVD Region and CSS Free. Find it, download that too. I also have the registry patch for that.
I got these patches from a company that sells the programs. A friend of mine used to own a company called Element5 and Shareit. They were just bought out by Digital Rivers for 120 Million. Whenever I saw something I wanted, all he did was find someone who purchased the program and then he would CC me the email. Then I could just download the product and or keys and patches.
I miss that benefit... I have tons of software from DVD to DivX / AVI, Virus Protection, Spyware software, Image Editing (photshop, Macromedia Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver....yada yada yada) Got a lot of cool software.
Also, I know of a site that you can get a lot of keys/serials from. It's where I get all my macromedia stuff from. I'll email that to you too.

Wow I just got done reading this part of the forum when Aaron needed help with his mod chip, and I saw how useful you guys were at helping him, and I was wondering if you could do the same for me. So all start with my problem. I bought a xchip a week ago, and tried to install it myself, I dissassembled my xbox found where to place the solderless adapter and did so accordingly ( my xbox version is a v1.3 ). Then I went to start the xbox up, and it went to a black screen. Nothing was on the screen, no errors, no messages, nothing. Then I took the modchip out of my adapter, and the original xbox screen started to pop up. Now im stuck here at this point, and don't know what to do. I have a couple of Ideas. Such as : Do I need to hook up my xbox to a pc, and try flashing programs that way, and if so could you direct me to some of them. Or should I burn a .iso cd, and run that on my xbox. The only problem with that was I thought I did that once before, and I put it in my xbox, and it came up just like a dvd would with the warning message saying please hook up to a dvd drive or what not. So If anyone could help me , I would be much ablidged sending me a private message would be greatful also. - ACE
