Hi, I bought a modded xbox ( chipped), and i want to softmod another one for a spare.
Can I softmod it, and connect my modded one to the new softmodded one and just transfer everything over? Ive done it from modded to modded( another friends ). Instead of downloading things off the internet, since I already have them? Is there directions how to do this? Ive been looking online for a few months and cant find anything to switch over. Ive found how to clone a drive, but theres probably alot more to it. Does the softmod come with avalaunch? Thats what the modded one has, and i read they both have to have the same dashboard. Are the emulators and roms on the drive?

Sure Man. Welcome to the HQ. Hope you find everything you need. If not just ask.
First off, you'll need to download and AID disc to operate your new softmod, which you can get from here. http://www.aidtracker.com/
Get the version 4.20 at the top of the list. I think there is an update, but you won't need it yet.
Third, what exactly do you want to transfer? Here is Tutorial on transferring between two XBOXes. http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-269.html There are easier ways to do different things. Which is why I asked what you want to transfer.
Complete step 1 and 2 first.

Thank you for your fast reply.
I want to put the emulators and roms for nint., gen, and others over to the new softmodded. I have all the games on original disks, so that wont be hard.
Did you ever do this? Im sort of new, but can learn.
I have the cable to transfer, but didnt know the programs and if i need to have two avalaunch programs to do it, im trying to figuire out what FTP is and if they are supposed to be the same ftp program.
so i will softmod it first.
its always good to have a backup, incase my modded one goes bad.

Hi
I tried the links, The first one sent me to a page i couldnt read, letters and numbers, but nothing to download. Something about torrid, no clue what that is.
The second was a video that stopped 1 sec into it, but ive been reading alot how to softmod
I will try from a differnet computer.
I forgot to say that this was for the original xbox.

Yeah both links worked then. The first one took you to the AID torrent page where you can download the program from. Download the first one that says Aid v.4.20. Not the lite. It's going to take a while, but some of this stuff does. Just be patient and let it download.
The second link is of a tutorial done by DJB, the guy who makes some of these programs. It is a video of him showing you exactly what to do with the materials needed. It tells you what items are needed at the very beginning. Please take some time and look back at both of them. This whole site is for Original XBOX so you're good. Follow the tutorials man. I promise you they won't steer you wrong. Come back with any questions. _________________

I got the auto installer, but I get a file error on the program, when I try to use the updater or select package. Should I download the whole auto installer again? Thanks again for helping this idiot out.

thanks for all your help.
I was able to softmod the xbox.
I was able to transfer some emulators & roms over from my chipped xbox. But only two-- gen and nin. Are the programs from xbins more compressed, or will I have to get a bigger hard drive either way? I didn't care about saving xbox games, just emulators and the roms. When i tried xbins, they were in zip format, do i just send the zips over? I'm almost there, thanks again

you will want the Emu unzipped but you can keep the Roms zipped up. _________________

so if I zip up all the roms, there will be room for the other emulators and zipped roms? Like mame, or there just isnt enough room on the stock hard drive?

You only have 8GB 10 max on some stock HDD's to work with, you just wont get every emu and every rom on there.
Get a bigger HDD and you will be good to go. _________________
